Green Jobs Network Launches Website for Climate Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships (particularly those offered by registered apprenticeship programs) can serve as a valuable pathway for people who are interested in clean energy and climate careers, and can help employers build their workforce.

Registered apprenticeship programs provide paid work experience, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally-recognized credential. Registered apprenticeship opportunities are increasing in occupations related to green and climate careers. For example, in 2023, there were 23,949 registered apprentices in the energy industry, a 44% increase over the past 5 years.

To support job seekers and employers who are interested in exploring apprenticeships, Green Jobs Network has launched ClimateApprenticeships.com.

The initial release includes an overview of apprenticeships, sources for job seekers to locate them, and information for employers who are interested in offering apprenticeships.

The site also includes apprenticeship news, such as the recent announcement by Fervo Energy, Southern Utah University, and Elemental Impact of the launch of the first geothermal apprenticeship program in the United States.

The launch of ClimateApprenticeships.com also celebrates the 10th Annual National Apprenticeship Week, which will take place from November 17-23, 2024.

This is an early release and feel free to send feedback or suggestions to [email protected].
