Application Deadline is November 1 for IREC’s Spring 2024 Remote Internships

Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC)

The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), a nonprofit that builds the foundation for rapid adoption of clean energy and energy efficiency, is currently accepting applications from college students and recent graduates for their Spring 2025 internship program.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be actively enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university or have graduated from one within the last year

  • Applicants must have been enrolled in an undergraduate program for at least one calendar year

  • Applicants must live and have authorization to work in the U.S.

Program Summary

This internship program will take place from  February - April 2025, and interns are expected to commit to working an average 15-20 hours a week in a fully remote environment. During the program, interns will have an opportunity to produce a research or writing product that will be supported by their mentor at IREC. Interns will be paid $20/hr for their participation and college credit may also be available.

Four internships are available across IREC’s departments: Workforce Development, Local Initiatives, Regulatory, and Communications.

Applications Being Accepted for the Summer 2025 EDF Climate Corps Fellowship

Environmental Defense Fund

Applications are currently being accepted for the summer 2025 cohort of the EDF Climate Corps, a premier summer fellowship program for graduate students who are motivated to join the climate workforce.

EDF Climate Corps fellows work with companies, public institutions, and non-profits to identity opportunities to reduce emissions and drive sustainable change across their operations and supply chains. The EDF Climate Corps has placed more than 1,900 fellows in its history.

Fellows are matched with host organizations based on interests, skills and host needs. You can view the full list of past organizations on the EDF Climate Corps website. EDF prioritizes projects that work on:

  • Climate commitments and roadmaps

  • Climate-smart food and ag systems

  • Environmental and climate justice

  • Renewables and energy efficiency

  • Supplier engagement and Scope 3

  • Sustainable finance

  • Zero-emission vehicles and fleet transition

Fellowships are available in multiple locations, including New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; and other U.S. cities and towns. Remote, hybrid, and on-site options are available.

Fellows receive a minimum of $1,400 per week for 10-12 weeks, plus $1,400 for participation in Fellow Training. Compensation and relocation support vary by host organization, and will be disclosed to qualified applicants in the project selection process.

Application Deadline is November 14 for the Utah NATURE Program Fellowship (The Nature Conservancy)

The Nature Conservancy

This is a remote role open to all locations in the United States. The ability to travel to Utah and other Southwest USA locations is required.

Applications are currently being accepted for the Utah NATURE Program Fellowship from The Nature Conservancy. This is a one-year position starting January 1, 2025, and ending December 31, 2025.

Background

In 2021 The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and Utah State University-Blanding launched an 8-week paid undergraduate program focused on natural resource management for students with Tribal backgrounds -- the Native American Tribes Undertaking Restoration and Education (NATURE).

The NATURE program seeks to bridge the gap between traditional ecological knowledge and western science by mentoring and training a small cadre of undergraduates from Tribal backgrounds to work at the interface of scientific research, public lands management, and Tribal perspectives.

The Fellowship

The Utah NATURE Program Fellow is a one-year position starting January 1, 2025, and ending December 31, 2025. The Fellow serves as the program manager with key tasks including the development, management, and coordination of the NATURE 2025 program.

The position will be remote, part-time, approximately 15-20 hours per week, during the academic year, becoming in-person, full-time for the 10 weeks when the NATURE program is in session (June 16 - August 15, 2025). The Fellow will travel with the students throughout the 10 weeks of the program and work with them as a mentor, facilitate speakers and programming, and organize travel. During this period the Fellow's travel will be reimbursed, and room and board are provided.

Following the in-person session, the Fellow will work directly with TNC’s new Global Director of Indigenous Science to explore building a framework for creating a TNC-wide NATURE Program.

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $23-$25 per hour.

Green Jobs Network Releases Updates to Climate Jobs Map

Green Jobs Network is excited to announce the newest release of the Climate Jobs Map. This is a free resource which is intended to help job seekers identify investments and jobs in their communities, with a particular focus on climate- and clean energy-related manufacturing.

The new version of this map contains more than 800 announced new or expanded U.S. manufacturing facilities in eight sectors that total more than $200 billion in announced private and public sector investments since January 21, 2021. This data is based on information gathered from public sources by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

This map is searchable by location and can be filtered by sector, announced number of jobs, and investment amount.

RE+ Midwest: Clean Energy Job Fair

Registration is available for the RE+ Clean Energy Job Fair. This event is being hosted by GRID Alternatives with community partner Elevate and will be at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, Ontario Room, in Chicago from 10 am - 1 pm.

This event will feature 10 companies that are seeking workers with diverse expertise and transferable skills to work in the growing clean energy industry.

Good Green News: Biden-Harris Administration, NOAA Designate 3rd-Largest National Marine Sanctuary

On October 11, 2024 the Biden-Harris Administration announced that NOAA is designating 4,543 square miles of coastal and offshore waters along 116 miles of California’s central coast as America’s 17th national marine sanctuary. Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary will conserve the area’s diverse range of marine life and celebrate Indigenous peoples’ connections to the region. It is the third largest sanctuary in the National Marine Sanctuary System.

Stretching from just south of Diablo Canyon Power Plant in San Luis Obispo County to the Gaviota Coast in Santa Barbara County, the sanctuary will bring comprehensive community- and ecosystem-based management to nationally significant natural, historical, archeological and cultural resources — including kelp forests, rocky reefs, sandy beaches, underwater mountains and more than 200 NOAA-documented shipwrecks.

This sanctuary designation is the result of a decade of work by Tribes, Indigenous Peoples, community leaders, organizations, businesses, state and local officials, and members of Congress — including then-Senator and now Vice President Kamala Harris — to develop and advance the vision for the Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary.

Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary is the fifth designated in California and one of the largest in the National Marine Sanctuary System. The sanctuary designation will take effect following 45 days of continuous session of the U.S. Congress, which is anticipated to be in December 2024.
