Application Period Open for Summer 2025 Freshwater and Community Conservation Externship

During the Externship, participants will learn about freshwater conservation careers from weekly webinars featuring National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy experts, explore curated digital content, and create a community-based conservation project to practice research, storytelling and presentation skills.

Here are key details about this program:

  • Application deadline June 20

  • 10 hours per week for 8 weeks (July 14, 2025 - September 7, 2025)

  • Fully remote

  • Open to applicants worldwide

  • This program is intended for people ages 18–25 to build the knowledge, tools, and relationships needed to seek solutions and take action in their communities.

  • Prior work experience or coursework in conservation or environmental topics is not required

  • $500 stipend upon program completion.

$300 Solar Training Credit Available from HeatSpring

Heatspring

Due to the positive response received thus far, HeatSpring is excited to continue offering its $300 solar training credit to the Green Jobs Network community!

Founded in 2007, HeatSpring is an online education and training platform for careers in clean energy and sustainability. HeatSpring offers more than 300 courses (including more than 150 free courses) and they are a leading provider of clean energy certifications like NABCEP, OSHA, FAA and others.

Green Jobs Network launched a collaboration with HeatSpring earlier this year with the goal of expanding access to career education and training opportunities.

The first initiative in this collaboration is to support job seekers who are interested in careers in the solar industry and provides a $300 training credit. Here are the details:

As you continue your career journey, HeatSpring provides training to help you earn in-demand credentials like NABCEP certification. All of HeatSpring’s courses can be taken on-demand at your own schedule.

Applications Being Accepted for the Environmental Policy Fellow: Natural & Working Lands

 Environmental Policy Fellow: Natural & Working Lands

Applications are now being accepted for the Environmental Policy Fellow – Natural & Working Lands position with The Nature Conservancy. The Environmental Policy Fellow for Natural and Working Lands will work with the RI Department of Environmental Management’s (RIDEM) climate team, focusing on integrating natural and working lands into the state’s climate mitigation and resilience efforts.

This position will be based at the RIDEM office in Providence. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development of climate policies for forests, farms, and other working landscapes

  • Collaborating across DEM divisions to align efforts in support of RI’s carbon reduction goals

  • Contributing to the design of strategies that promote healthy, climate-resilient landscapes

The position offers a salary range of $75,000 – $82,000 per year with a competitive benefits package.

Last Call! Application Deadline for Montgomery County Climate Fellowship is May 30

The application deadline is May 30 for the 2025-2026 cohort of the Montgomery County Climate Fellows program.

Fellows work full-time in the County Executive’s Office on high-priority initiatives to advance Montgomery County’s climate goals. This is a hands-on opportunity to work across disciplines like energy, transportation, conservation, resilience, and governance.

Here are key details about this fellowship:

  • Fellowship Dates: September 8, 2025 - May 29, 2026

  • Compensation: $20/hour, 40 hours per week

  • Location: Hybrid - remote and in-person at 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD

The program is seeking candidates who:

  • Have recently completed an undergraduate or graduate program or are enrolled in a graduate program part-time

  • Demonstrate a strong interest in climate change, sustainability, environmental justice, and/or local government.

To apply, submit a resume, brief cover letter, and a writing or communications sample (e.g., blog post, social media content, academic paper, policy essay, or visual outreach piece) to [email protected] by May 30, 2025.

Westchester County Clean Energy Jobs & Resources Fair

The Westchester County Clean Energy Jobs and Resources Fair will be on June 18 from 2 - 6 pm at the Westchester County Center (198 Central Avenue) in White Plains, NY.

At this event participants will be able connect with employers, network with clean energy professionals, and explore education & training programs. 

In addition, the fair will includes a panel session "Empowering Change: Turning Challenges into Clean Energy Opportunities." The panel will feature a clean energy trainer, a leading employer, and influential voices from the environmental justice and workforce development sectors.
