Education Spotlight: Discover Georgetown’s M.S. in Environment and Sustainability Management

Become a sustainability leader

Today’s sustainability leaders need to do more than understand environmental issues—they need to influence decisions, strategy, and action. Georgetown’s M.S. in Environment and Sustainability Management (ESM) combines environmental science and business principles, which are both critical to achieving sustainability goals within any organization.

Build in-demand science and business expertise

The first program of its kind, this master’s helps you develop the interdisciplinary skills to turn protecting the planet into your career. Jointly offered by Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business and Earth Commons Institute, our curriculum offers a 50/50 blend of science and business for the dual expertise to drive effective change.

Put your skills to work in a capstone

You’ll collaborate with other students in a small team to complete an immersive capstone project for a real company or organization, applying what you learn to an actual challenge at the intersection of business and sustainability. Upon completion, you’ll present findings to organizational leaders for the experience and problem-solving that helps you stand out.

Grow your career with purpose

With personalized one-on-one career coaching from a top-ranked business school, a STEM-designated curriculum, and a cohort of like-minded peers, the ESM program is designed to help you strengthen in-demand interdisciplinary skills, expand your network, and build a meaningful career in sustainability.
